Complementary medicine

Complementary medicine are medical approaches used complementary to conventional medicine. For different reasons a therapeutic approach might not be part of the usual medical service (see table at article alternative medicine). If it is used in conjunction with conventional medicine it might get called complementary medicine, if the differences are big it might be called alternative medicine. A term that includes both kind of therapies is CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine). A more recent term of collaboration of conventional and unconventional approaches is integrative medicine.
