The Witten Colloquia were initiated in 2012 by [[Peter Heusser]] in order to raise awareness of socially relevant fundamental questions and current topics of the "human" in an interdisciplinary context, both scientifically and publicly. As of 2019, Silke Schwarz and [[David Martin]] have taken over the organization and management of the Witten Colloquia, and have set up an online platform for them.
