The Institute for Applied Epistemology and Medical Methodology (IFAEMM) is an affiliated institute of Witten/Herdecke University. It was founded in 1994 and is headed by Helmut Kiene.
The Institute describes its focus in the field of the development and application of scientific and medical research methods, in which the dignity, truth and freedom of the human being are given special consideration. A special concern is to realize in all research projects the reference to the epistemological foundations of the respective field.[1]
According to the Institute their work is based on the thought of occidental philosophers, scientists and doctors such as Plato, Aristotle, Galileo, Descartes, Newton, Goethe, Kant, Fichte, Hegel, Steiner, Wegman, Wittgenstein, Fleck, Weiss, Bertalanffy, Duncker, Martini, Feinstein, Goodwin.[1]
