Peter Matthiessen (* May 25, 1944 in Calw; † April 30, 2019 ) was a professor of medical theory and complementary medicine.

Curriculum vitae

Peter Matthiessen attended the Free Waldorf school Stuttgart-Uhlandshöhe[1], studied medicine in Marburg and Washington State University St. Louis.[2] He received his doctorate in 1971 on Histometric studies on the developmental dynamics of the post-kidney in the rat[1]. He completed further training as a specialist in neurology, psychiatry and psychotherapy in Herdecke, Dortmund and Marburg.[3] He was co-founder in 1983 of the Witten-Herdecke University (UW/H).[2][4] From 1987 to 1993, he was a board member of the Free European Academy of Sciences (FEAW), a predecessor organization of the UW/H. [1] In 1993, he became the first holder of the Gerhard-Kienle Endowed Chair of Medical Theory and Complementary Medicine at UW/H.
