Andreas Michalsen (* 1961 Bad Waldsee ) is a German specialist in internal medicine with a focus on naturopathy, nutrition and mind-body medicine, as well as an author in the scientific and popular science field. Since 2009, he has been the head physician of the Department of Naturopathy at Immanuel Hospital Berlin. He is Professor of Clinical Naturopathy as holder of the endowed Professorship of Clinical Naturopathy at the Institute of Social Medicine, Epidemiology and Health Economics of Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, which has been tenured to a regular professorship in the fall of 2021. He advocates a scientific foundation for naturopathy.

Michalsen recommends active engagement with nutrition, fasting and exercise to promote health and prevent disease.

Biography

Andreas Michalsen's father and grandfather were naturopathic physicians, his father a Kneipp physician. From 1999 to 2008, Michalsen was head of the naturopathic department and integrative medicine at the Essen-Mitte Clinics. Since 2009, he has been the head physician of the naturopathic department at Immanuel Hospital in Berlin.
