History
Ideas for a philanthropic association were moved in several meetings starting in 2001, originating from the George Family Foundation. Initiative here came from Penny George and her personal experience with breast cancer. In 2002, a foundation was formed that would later be named the Bravewell collaborative.[3][4] In 2015, the organization disbanded. Two projects were funded as a kind of legacy; a data collection PRIMIER, and leadership development at Duke University.
