The Gemeinschaftskrankenhaus Herdecke (GKH) is a hospital in the city of Herdecke in the district of Westende in Germany. The GKH is a cooperating hospital of the University of Witten-Herdecke. It is specialised in the field of integrative medicine and especially anthroposophic medicine.
History
The hospital was inaugurated in 1969 and was the first anthroposophically oriented hospital in Germany. One of the main founders of the hospital was Gerhard Kienle (1923-1983).[1] A main motive in the social design of the founding period was flat hierarchies without chief physicians and head nurses.[1][2]
